One of my readers suggested I post some numbers regarding my portfolio so that others can see what I’m doing. I haven’t done this before since I do want to maintain some degree of privacy but also I’ve just felt that there’s no need to really post that or boast – in other words, it doesn’t matter how much I’m making – the principles and decisions are the same regardless. You should judge them on the basis of what makes sense for you.
That said, I’ll mention a few figures on where part of my portfolio stands right now, as well as where I’m hoping to take it over the next year – regardless of what happens to the economy (I do think it’s going to be fine).
Number of stocks owned: about 30
Total monthly reinvested cashflow: $81.00 (starting small, here…)
Where I hope to get it to over the next year:
Number of stocks owned: 50+
Total monthly reinvested cashflow: $200
This is cashflow that I 100% reinvest, so when times are good and earnings grow, I’ll be able to increase my cashflow considerably. My first goal is just to create some investment money so that I have more to play with on top of my regular income. A large part of what I achieved this year was setting up my portfolio for future moves. I sold some, traded some, and bought a lot of new dividend-paying stocks. Eventually I think I’ll manage a personal portfolio of about 100 stocks.
