@Ramesh - not sure what you mean - I'm not disparaging Thackray here at all. I think the seasonal investing approach is quite interesting and obviously with some sound basis. Have you also followed Don Vialoux's technical trading blog?? He also gives a lot of seasonal advice and I like his take. It seems a bit more critical than average. eg., he argues why the January effect isn't *really* a seasonal indicator since it's not based on anything actually recurring (aside from it simply being January, of course).

I have now finished Thackray's book 2010 Investor's Guide. It is full of pertinent informatio and logical reasoning behind his recommendations. He also gives statistics relating to past performance. I do not think this article does justice to Thackray's wealth of thinking and sophistication. It rather tends to oversimplify and set up a straw man.
Not knowing the author's own investment thinking, I cannot pick on him but the way he shows a mild disdain for a sophisticated strategy, his own thinking would not hold to half as much of critical analysis. I hold no brief for anybody or any particular concept but I can detect shallow impertinence. I would recommend that the author read an entire book by Thackray before writing a definitive sounding blurb like this.
