Need ideas for stocking stuffers? Want to give a gift that helps others, too? How about some prepaid Visa debit cards that will also benefit the Breast Cancer Foundation?
ACE Cash Express and NetSpend have teamed up and donated $46,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) through an issue of pink prepaid Visa debit cards that can be bought and given as gifts to friends and loved ones to spend wherever the Visa card is accepted.
To learn more about these pink prepaid Visas, I spoke with Philip Cormier, VP of Marketing for ACE Cash Express.
Can you tell me a bit about why prepaid cards are a good idea?
The Pink All-Access Visa Prepaid Debit Card from ACE is the ideal tool for someone who needs a debit card for their everyday transactions, and also wants to give back to their community in the fight against breast cancer. A portion of all purchase transations goes back to the Breast Cancer Foundation. The process is seamless and convenient. A Pink Card customer simply makes their everyday purchases knowing their contributions are going straight to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. There is no risk of overdraft fees, everyone is approved, and customer can get paid up to 3 days earlier than with a paper check.
How long will these Visas be valid, or how often can you reload them?
The Pink Visa Prepaid Debit Card is a permanent account with a 3-year expiration date that is automatically renewed for regular card users. There are no plans to discontinue the program. Customers can be confident they will be donating to the NBCF for years to come.
Is there a limit on the amounts you can load them with?
Customers can load up to $5,000 per day at an ACE location, or up to $10,000 a day with direct deposit. There is, however, a maximum balance of $10,000 on the account.
The cards are offered through over 1,700 retail outlets of ACE Cash Express and have been a big success since their launch two years ago, raising well over $100,000 in its first year alone. The pink prepaid Visa debit card offer was the first reloadable card that allows customers to make automatic charitable contributions to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The funds raised help provide educational materials and free mammograms to women who would not otherwise be able to afford them.
