Thank you for this comprehensive list. Investing is so confusing - with a bit of time and this list the light will get a little brighter. Many thanks.

That's a really good point and it's generally true of most mining companies, not just Canada. Take a look at Rio Tinto and BHP - those are the world's largest miners. If it's any consolation, the relationship is reversing now too as China begins to buy stakes in Canada's own resource fields and does its own mining of Canada's resources so to speak. One thing about Canadian law is that it lets foreign firms buy property to mine or drill for oil without giving cuts to the Canadian government. Apparently this is somewhat unique - anyways, just trying to say that the "pillaging" goes in both directions, I guess. Then again, let's remember that many of the rare metals mined are needed for "green" technologies like solar panels and hybrid cars. Just one of the modern ironies of development, I suppose.

It's nice to the a breakdown of the TSX Composite for Canada. Would have never suspected some of the companies that make this list, so it's very insightful.

On another note, it's a little sad to see that a fair amount of these companies make their fortunes off of developing countries' resources where there's vast amounts of poverty. The commodity list is full of these examples.

Aside from this, this list goes to show you where money is concentrated. Therefore, one can learn a lot about which areas to focus for wealth inspiration. Great post!
